I'm a physician assistant in the Phoenix area looking for a good mentoring relationship with an integrative/functional/complementary medicine physician. The allopathic model feels constraining and limited, and I am ready to make a change.
My undergraduate education from Arizona State University is in Human Nutrition and Exercise Science with a Wellness concentration (double major). I studied medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ and graduated in 2004. I recently re-certified and scored in the 85th percentile... of course, the questions were all related to conventional medicine!
I got into medicine with an eye toward being able to educate my patients and a strong drive towards preventive medicine. I don't get the opportunity to use that much these days. I currently work as a primary care provider for the mentally ill residents of the Arizona State Hospital. It's been a fantastic incubator for learning about a variety of chronic conditions, and I consider that foundation to be invaluable. Now I'm ready to learn how to actually treat my patients instead of "managing" their conditions.
I am working diligently to add to my knowledge base and will be pursuing further study and certifications in clinical nutrition, functional endocrinology, detoxification, botanical medicines, homeopathy... there are many things I'm very interested in learning. I plan to initially focus on clinical nutrition, hormonal balance, and toxins because it seems to me that these issues underlie a huge percentage of the most common problems. If more intervention is necessary beyond that, clearing up these issues will give a nice strong balance to proceed from.
I am also very interested in vibrational/energy medicine - bring on the woo! ;)
Please contact me with any mentoring or employment possibilities at email@example.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
